As part of the BID’s commitment to a cleaner and greener Harrow Town Cente, the team tackled the Taste of Lahore alleyway on the 22nd July with a substantial deep clean operation. Alongside colleagues from Harrow Council’s Street Cleansing Team, over 900 kilos of waste was cleared and removed from the area.
This alleyway is well known as a grot spot and a prime location for illegal fly tipping. It has been an issue for the BID for many years and has now undergone a dramatic transformation. Bins that were, until recently, filling most of the alleyway are now being removed in favour of Bagged Collection. The removal of bins means there is more public realm on display and the team were able to get behind to the back area.
Plants were weeded, rubbish removed and grot spots prepped for jet washing. Harrow Council then used a special detergent to scrub up the areas affected by staining and years of accumulated build up. The area looks vastly cleaner and additional BID signage has been put in place to encourage users of the alleyway to keep it clean.
