With the Covid-19 alert level reduced from 4 to 3, as planned, from Monday 17th May more restrictions were eased.
Hospitality venues welcomed back guests indoors, hotels reopened, indoor sports and fitness resumed, and families can meet up in groups of 6 indoors.
Social distancing in places outside the home such as shops, restaurants, pubs and theatres will remain and the public should live responsibly by making their own decisions based on the risks associated with various activities. Click here for full Government information.
The main changes now in place are:
Meeting up
- People can meet in groups of up to 30 outdoors
- Six people or two households can meet indoors, with overnight stays allowed
- A maximum of 30 people can attend weddings and other life events
- No cap on the number of people who can attend a funeral
- Care home residents allowed up to five named visitors, and more freedom for visits out of the home
Leisure and entertainment
- Pubs, bars and restaurants will be able to open indoors. Venues must display a QR Code and ensure it is scanned by everyone entering the premise, or take details of ALL guests, not just the lead booking name.
- Indoor entertainment such as museums, cinemas and children’s play areas can open
- Theatres, concert halls, conference centres and sports stadiums can all reopen
- Organised adult sports and exercise classes can restart indoors
- Steam rooms and saunas may reopen
- Hotels, hostels and B&Bs can reopen
Travel
- People can travel abroad to green list countries and the common travel area. Please check the restrictions imposed by the country you are visiting prior to booking.
